Perkins and Ringstrom deepen their love, enjoying secret meetings together. Meanwhile, Melman faces legal troubles when the pressures of her diet and marital issues lead her to lash out at an irritating member of her weight loss group. Kuzak is devastated when his oversight in legal discovery prevents a widowed client from securing a settlement against a hospital responsible for his wife's inadequate care. McKenzie steps in to assist a grieving widow in reclaiming her husband's remains after his body is mistakenly used for research. Melman and Meyer seek guidance from a marriage counselor, and as Kuzak and Van Owen leave a restaurant, they unexpectedly encounter Ringstrom and his spouse.
