In Lake Forest, Steve and Norm find carpenters working in the cold, fitting custom cedar siding for a new kitchen addition. Inside the old greenhouse, Richard shows Steve how radiant heat installed beneath the floors and inside the walls saved valuable square footage in the dining area. Local historian Paul Bergmann points out a shoreline mansion designed by famed architect Benjamin Marshall in 1911—now on the market for $25 million. Down in the basement, project manager Jim Eimerman shows Norm the steel beam installed to level the kitchen floor above, though the jacking caused major cracks in the plaster throughout the rest of the house.
