S34E16 Essex 2012/13 Part 1: A Cottage in the Woods

In this episode, Norm and Kevin return to Cape Ann, specifically the charming riverside town of Essex, Massachusetts, for their second project of the season. They encounter a 1935 English-style cottage nestled in the woods, owned by John and Julie Corcoran, who aim to transform it into an accessible in-law suite for Julie's elderly parents. Norm discovers various issues, including neglect, rotting materials, and an inadequate roof and windows, as well as an oddly placed large shed dormer. Inside, Julie shares her vision for creating a comfortable, accessible space for her parents on the main floor. Meanwhile, outside, Richard discusses the existing oil tank obstructing the new kitchen plans and suggests a shift to geothermal heating and cooling systems.
